Mood
Situated at the entrance to The Story Museum (currently being refurbished), this café is quirky, whimsical and friendly. As you might expect from the name and location, it is themed around stories and books, with plenty available to look at and read whilst you’re there.
Food
Home-cooked traditional lunch food, think sandwiches, soup, frittata, salads. Also plenty of delicious-looking cakes, coffees and teas.
Little Dudes
- Kids menu – yes, both for very small tots (The Hungry Caterpillar plate, a selection of healthy lunchy snacks for babies and toddlers £3), plus lunch bag selections for slightly bigger or hungrier kids £5.
- High chairs – yes,
- Buggy-friendly – no specific buggy park unless the museum courtyard is open, in which case there is one there. Buggies are allowed, but the eating space is quite small so it can get crowded.
- Entertainment – so much! There is a whole playroom off the café, with a puppet theatre, colouring, dress-up and books. It is also the location of the free ‘story bites’ sessions on Wednesday and Thursday mornings (10-30-11.30).
- Changing facilities – yes
Open Tuesday to Saturday 10-5 (closed Sundays and Mondays)
