From donating unwanted toys to dressing up as santa and running a couple of miles, there’s lots you can do to help others in Oxford this Christmas…
We are collecting toys and packing gifts at the old Warren James Jewellers in Templar Square Shopping Centre, Monday 3rd – Tuesday 11th December 2018, 9.30am-4.30pm. Go here for more info about the Salvation Army.
Every year over 550 homeless people turn to us for these crucial survival means. And we’re always here. Providing accommodation for over 200 people a night, and serving up 75,000 meals every single year. We support people out of homelessness for good.
Count down to Christmas with our fun Reverse Advent Calendar. Donate items for our clients and raise money to support our services. Any money and welfare donations leftover will help us throughout 2019 – because homelessness is not just for Christmas.
We provide hospice care for babies and children in Oxfordshire and surrounding counties.
Support Helen and Douglas House by taking part in Santas on the Run on Sunday 9th December 2018. Join 2,000 Santas of all ages on this great festive 3.5k fun run or walk for a good claus through the iconic streets of Oxford to help local terminally ill children.
Tickets are available until 7th December (adults £20, children £12, under 5s FREE and families £60). The ticket price only covers the cost of running this event, it’s your fundraising that really makes a difference to the terminally ill babies and children at Helen & Douglas House. Your fundraising aim is £30 per participant.
We work side by side with people to help them rebuild their lives. From decades of experience of working with thousands of homeless people, we know what’s needed to leave homelessness behind for good. We use this experience to shape the services we provide and the changes we campaign for.
This year is our first year of delivering Crisis at Christmas in Oxford. As well as our year-round services, we are offering our guests:
Alongside our Amazon Wish List of items that our Crisis clients have asked for, we’re also looking for food donations for catering meals. Please go to the website for the list of food items we would like. If you are able to help or contribute towards our food purchases, please get in touch.
We are collecting unused & unwanted toiletries, cosmetics, to pack into gift boxes for women who will be spending Christmas in one of the refuges run by the Oxfordshire Domestic Abuse Service (ODAS). We also collect basic foods to help them during the first few days in refuge.
Any extras are donated to people who are moving off the streets at Simon House, The Gatehouse, O’Hanlon House, or who are refugees through Asylum Welcome, Refugee Resource, and other appropriate organisations.
We are exceedingly grateful to Oxford Town Hall who have kindly agreed to host a collection point for us. This collection point is in the centre of Oxford and is open during the listed hours only. The staff will willingly accept your donations, clearly labelled, and store them for us to pick up.
Collections are running until 30th November. Go here for more info and the Shoebox Oxford website is here.

The players always donate armfuls of presents and toys and fans have been extremely generous over the last few years and helped us take hundreds of gifts along to distribute.
Help us put a smile on someone’s face this Christmas by bringing along a gift or toy. It can be toys, puzzles, colouring books, books; anything you like but NEW please, not gift wrapped and not food.
You can bring them along to the club during the week and drop them at the ticket office window, or at the ticket office reception on matchday at next Tuesday’s (27th November 2018) home game against Rochdale.
