SPECIAL OFFER FOR OXFORD RESIDENTS AT OXFORD CASTLE & PRISON IN JANUARY
Oxford Castle & Prison are running a discount in January for OX residents. Throughout January 2020, those with an OX postcode will receive 40% discount on admission to Oxford Castle & Prison when visiting at the weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
Chris Abbott, General Manager at Oxford Castle & Prison said: “We are really pleased to be able to offer a fantastic discount for local Oxford residents this January. It’s proved really popular in the past and we’re excited to welcome more of our local residents to discover the 1000 year history on their doorstep.”
The offer will mean that adults can visit for £7.50 (usually £12.50), children £5.10 (usually £8.50), students £6.30 (usually £10.50) and seniors £6.30 (usually £10.50).
Oxford Castle & Prison is located on the former site of Her Majesty’s Oxford Prison but has stood as a Castle for 1000 years. Accompanied by a costumed character guide from the castle’s colourful history, visitors to the attraction can explore the austere confines of the 18th century Debtors’ Tower and Prison D-wing; experience the atmospheric underground Crypt, the only surviving remains of St. George’s Chapel where, it is said, began the education for which Oxford is famed; marvel at the Mound of the 11th century motte and bailey castle with vaulted well chamber; climb St George’s Tower and enjoy the unique 360° panoramic views over the dreaming spires. The tour lasts 1 hour.
The quality of the attraction’s guided tours was recently recognised at the 2019 Beautiful South Awards, where Oxford Castle & Prison were awarded silver for Small Visitor Attraction of the Year. To redeem the offer, residents need to bring a valid proof of address (such as a driving licence or utility bill) and purchase at the Castle’s ticket desk. Discounted tickets cannot be purchased online. Discount applies to standard tickets only and is not valid in conjunction with any other offer. The offer runs from 1st – 31st January 2019, subject to availability. For more information, including full terms and conditions, visit www.oxfordcastleandprison.co.uk.
