We had our first session of ‘Nippers & Slippers’ intergenerational playgroup on Friday 15th February 2019 and it was a huge success – with the room jam packed full of families and care home residents mingling and happily spending time together!
We’d set up the room with different activities for young and old to do together – playdough, megablocks, reading and colouring. We also had a little imaginative play area with a cooker and some fancy dress outfits – and a baby area with mats and baby toys.
It was a wonderful morning and everyone entered into the spirit of it beautifully – with so much chat and interaction between young and old! There might never have been so much noise in the home…
Jack FM came along – and here’s their report:
Nippers and Slippers will be running the first Friday of every month, with the next one being Friday 1st March 2019 10.30-12. We’re also planning some extra special events so keep an eye out for those! It’s a £1 suggested donation which goes towards the tea, coffee and snacks, and craft materials. We hope to see you soon!
Nippers and Slippers takes place at the Isis Care Home on Cornwallis Road. For more details about the session and all 2019 dates go here.
